Elephants In Love
All patterns are written in US terms using Craft Yarn Council abbreviations.
Intermediate pattern. You need to have knowledge of single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), slip stitch (sl st), and both increases and decreases. Experience with seamless part attachment is helpful, but not required.
Gauge
Gauge is not important for amigurumi. Make sure to use the same hook throughout for correct proportions.

9 inches tall x 6 inches long
Supplies
- Furls Odyssey G+ (4.5mm) hook
- 1 skein Red Heart Super Saver 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn, 364 yds, any one color. Samples are made in Light Grey and Real Teal.
- 2-15mm colored safety eyes
- Yarn Needle
- Straight Pins
- Stitch marker or stitch saver (safety pins work as well)
Pattern Stitches
Single Crochet Join – Sc join: Put slip knot over hook, insert hook through st, yo, pull though stitch, yo, pull through both loops on hook. Sc created.
Pattern Notes
Work in continuous rounds. Do not join rounds with slip stitch.
Ch-3 at beginning of Rows count as dc.
Assemble in order as directed for best positioning results.

Sc in second ch from hook, 2 sc. Turn.

Row 1: 5 dc in 4th ch from hook. Turn. (6)
Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc inc in next 5 sts. Turn. (12)
Row 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc, [dc inc, dc] 5 times. Turn. (18)
Row 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc, [dc inc, 2 dc] 5 times. (24)
Sl st in starting ch of ear to curve.
Bind off, leaving long tail for sewing.
Using tail, sew folded part of ear on long edge.
Sew to head along Row 17 (last row worked evenly around). Each ear is sew along 12 stitches, 3 stitches apart at the top.
Head
Mark a 6 st x 6 st square on body between Rounds 2 and 7, centered between legs on either end of body. Be sure to attach head between legs with only one sc between them.
Position head with center point of head centered on Round 2. Mark head where it touches the pins.
Tail
Ch 5. Bind off. Pull both ends tight. Use one end to sew the tail to Round 5. Weave in ends. Cut other end ¾ inch long and fray yarn.
