YARN: Light (3) in White, Mustard, Sea Green, Gray; Classic Cotton Thread in Black

MATERIALS: C2 – 2.75 mm Hook; B1 – 2.25 mm; Two 6 mm Black Plastic Safety Eyes; Poly Filling; Yarn Needle

DIMENSION: H. 5” x W. 4” x L. 4” (with skis on)

ABBREVIATIONS: stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), back loop only (BLO), front loop only (FLO), fasten off (F/O)

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

SNOUT (gray yarn; 2.75 mm hook; work in rows)

Row 1: 5 ch, 1 sc inc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 3 sc (4); ch1 and turn

Row 2 – 12: sc even (4); F/O and leave a long strand of yarn.

Embroider the NOSE and the MOUTH LINE with black cotton thread.

HEAD (white yarn; 2.75 mm hook)

Rnd 1: 8 sc in a mr (8)

Rnd 2: sc inc around (16)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (24)

Rnd 4: (2 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (32)

Rnd 5: (3 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (40)

Rnd 6: sc even (40)

Rnd 7: (4 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (48)

Rnds 8 – 17: sc even (48)

Rnd 18: (2 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (36)

Rnd 19: (1 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (24); DO NOT F/O

Sew the SNOUT to the head between rnds # 2-15.

Insert the plastic safety eyes between rounds # 10-11, approximately 8 stitches apart.

Embroider the EYEBROWS with black cotton thread between rnds # 7-9.

Stuff the head.

EARS (white yarn; 2.75 mm hook; make two; work in rows)

Row 1: 8 sc in a mr; DO NOT close the ring (8); ch1 and turn

Row 2: 1 sc inc, 6 sc, 1 sc inc (10); F/O and leave a long strand of yarn.

Sew the ears on the top of the bear’s head between rnds # 5-11.

BODY (white, mustard and sea green yarn; 2.75 mm hook)

Rnd 20: working in FLO, (2 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (32)

Rnds 21: switch to mustard yarn, working in both loops now, (3 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (40)

Rnd 22: switch back to white yarn, sc even (40)

Rnd 23: (3 sc with white yarn, 1 sc with sea green yarn) rep around (40)

Rnd 24: 1 sc with sea green yarn, (3 sc with sea green yarn, 1 sc with white yarn) rep 9 times, 1 sc with white yarn, 2 sc with sea green yarn (40); keep stuffing the body

Rnd 25: working with white yarn only, (7 sc, 1 sc inc) rep 5 times (45)

Rnd 26: switching to sea green yarn, sc even (45)

Rnd 27 – 31: switching to white yarn, sc even (45)

Rnd 32: working in BLO, sc even (45)

Rnd 33: working in both loops now, sc even (45)

Attach mustard yarn to the FLO of the 1st st of rnd #31, sc even (45); F/O mustard yarn, cut and wave in ends.

Rnd 34 – 36: sc even (45)

Rnd 37: (3 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (36)

Rnd 38: (2 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (27)

Rnd 39: (1 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (18); finish stuffing the body firmly

Rnd 40: sc dec around (9); F/O, close the hole and wave in ends.

BOOTS AND LEGS (mustard and white yarn; make two; 2.25 mm hook)

Join with a sl st and ch 1, unless otherwise instructed.

Rnd 1: starting off with mustard yarn, 7 ch, 1 sc inc into the 2nd ch from the hook, 4 sc, 7 hdc into the last ch, keep working on the opposite side of the foundation ch, 4 sc, 1 sc inc into the last ch (19); do not ch 1

Rnd 2: sl st even (19); ch1 and turn

Rnd 3: 6 sc, 2 hdc, 3 hdc inc, 2 hdc, 6 sc (22)

Rnd 4: 6 sc, 5 hdc dec, 6 sc (17)

Rnd 5: 4 sc, 1 sc dec, 1 hdc dec, 1 hdc, 1 hdc dec, 1 sc dec, 4 sc (13)

Rnd 6: 5 sc, 2 sc dec, 4 sc (11); do not fasten off the mustard yarn

Rnd 7: working into the BLO of rnd # 6, join to white yarn, sc even (11)

Rnd 8: working in both loops now, 1 sc dec, 9 sc (10)

Rnd 9 – 10: sc even (10); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to sew the legs to the bottom part of the body.

Working into the FLO of rnd # 6, crochet 11 hdc with mustard yarn (11); F/O, cut the yarn and wave in end.

Stuff the boots and the legs before sewing them on.

ARMS (mustard and white yarn; make two; 2.75 mm hook)

Rnd 1: starting off with mustard yarn, 8 sc in a mr (8)

Rnd 2: (1 sc, 1 sc inc) rep around (12)

Rnd 3 – 4: sc even (12)

Rnd 5: (1 sc, 1 sc dec) rep around (8); do not F/O mustard yarn

Rnd 6: working into the BLO of round # 5, join white yarn, sc even (8)

Rnd 7 – 8: sc even (8)

Rnd 9: (2 sc, 1 sc dec) rep twice (6)

Rnd 10: sc even (6); F/O and leave a long strand of yarn.

Working into the FLO of rnd # 5, crochet 8 hdc with mustard yarn (8); F/O, cut the yarn and wave in end.

Stuff only the mitten part; sew the arms to the side of the body, between rounds # 23-25.
